Preview of the new Andy Smiff blog and brand identity for 2012

It's almost December and i'm moving away from the freelancer image as I pursue an exciting new adventure with an Edinburgh based agency.

To celebrate and echo the change I have decided to re design my own brand identity and change my personal site into a blog rather than a portfolio style site.

So here is the first preview of the new look Andy Smiff for 2012 as it stands. It is still work in progress but approx. 85% complete at the moment. And yes, the design will be responsive :-) The sidebar will contain user controls and social links in an web app/iPad style format.

I wanted to to try a different format of "blog post preview" that focuses on the content rather than the imagery so any thoughts or comments on the latest post format is welcomed.

Any feedback and comments are greatly appreciated as always.

1st Draft Homepage for a Window Cleaning Company

Good Afternoon All,

I thought i'd share a quick snap of a project I am currently working on. It is a website for a national window cleaning company.

I had a stab at creating a small infographic for the company that they will be able to change on each page of the site.

Any feedback is appreciated as I've been looking at this one too long and am getting a creative block/doubt creeping into my mind.

Cheers,

Andy

Mind Moving Logo

I posted a quick snap of the Dashboard earlier at http://forrst.com/posts/Web_App_Dashboard_UI_Design_Concept-v31#comment-447565

As part of the application project I was also tasked with creating a logo and brand identity. So here is a quick snap of the chosen logo for the project.

Thirst.ly App Logo

This is a logo I created for an app that the very talented guys at Swanify are creating. I'll not say too much at this point but the logo and identity are pieces of work that I'm very happy to have been able to get the chance to design.

I can't wait till the guys launch and I can share more details of this app with everyone...Let's just say this is going to be an app that everyone should have installed on their iPhones!

RealEst Lease Web Design - Looking for an initial critique

A quick preview of my latest project named RealEst Lease. Still WIP but definitely worth sharing!

I really wanted to create an image that echoed the stereotypically old fashioned nature of the buy to let landlord but present it in a modern web design that would dust the cobwebs off the idea behind this project.

Any comments and inspiration welcome as this is still very much in design.

WIP Andlin Logo Concept

Here is a quick preview of a logo I am in the process of creating for a top secret (not anymore) project.

I envisioned a dark, classic look but with a twist of modern web design and an almost retro or computer game like feel. I love dark design but never seem to get it right and this logo has so far fallen in to place quite well.

I am a little unsure about the tagline and looking for some inspiration as to what type of icon/image I should have in the circle above the log (if any)

All advice and inspiration welcome :-)

Cleared Solutions Joomla Website Design and Development

Here is a quick snap of a client project I am very excited to have launched.

I really enjoyed working with the Andale Mono typeface. It's not a typeface that I would normally think of using but the companies brand guidelines dictated it and I think it worked incredibly well on the finished product.

Pic N Print Lebanon

This is the homepage design for a new Magento site I am working for a client based in Lebanon.

The site is minimal yet modern. The goal of the design was to have the ability to develop the almost all of the site with CSS/CSS3 to keep the site as lightweight as possible. The reason for this is the slow internet connection speeds available in Lebanon.

Dean Philson Handyman Website

Here is a screen shot of an excellent local tradesmens website that I have just launched.

The design is based on the Animated Content Menu with jQuery created by May Lou of Codrops. I loved the menu system as soon as i viewed the demo and had to put it to use. So, after a few tweaks and additions the new DPHS site has been created.

At the time of posting this there are still issues with IE 7 and 8 which I am working through but it looks and performs great in all modern browsers.
