I don't know what came over me, but I thought I'd try something in GIMP, and on an old Win XP laptop no less. This is the result.
I don't think I'll give up using Photoshop (or my Mac) any time soon, but I was mildly surprised at what it's capable of considering it's a free app.
Seeing as it's October I've given it a 'Halloweeny' colour scheme.
Just a little snippet from a website visual I'm currently working on. It's more a of 'style' experiment and may come to nothing though.
The client wants something very 'loose' and quirky, which I have to admit I'm finding quite difficult. I'm much more used to clean, simple corporate type sites...

I need to make this button look more 'button like'. At the moment it's not obvious to users that they should click on it.
However, I have to keep the design very simple - the client doesn't like anything fancy.
I'm thinking I could rotate the arrow icon so it's pointing to the right and not down, but any suggestions would be welcome.
Part of a new site I'm working on. It's very simple because that's the client's brand (no fancy borders, embossing, textures etc.), but I quite like it. The colours are nice, natural and organic.
