In all our hosting-related resources, we considered website loading speed as a top recommendation factor. And why wouldn’t we?! After all, it directly affects the bottom line.
However, it’s important to note that hosting is only an element that influences site speed. A major chunk of what affects the loading time is website/webpage optimization. And if we look even deeper, we reach the topic of the day and understand why it’s crucial.
Why enable PHP ZIP Module?
Reducing file size is one way to optimize your website, and the PHP ZIP module will help you do just that.
ZIP is a file format used to hold compressed files. Compressing PHP files & directories — especially of platforms like WordPress that are written in PHP — can significantly decrease website size, eventually leading to faster site loading.
The PHP ZIP module, Archive_Zip, helps in zipping & unzipping/reading & writing zip files. Therefore, it must be enabled.
You can do it using several methods, but the easiest of all is through cPanel.

You will find only one module, Archive_Zip. Install it.

Your PHP ZIP module is installed.
All in all
Enabling the PHP ZIP module through cPanel is the easiest method to do it. You can also install it via the command line — simply type # yum install ea-phpXX-php-zip* where XX is the PHP version (E.g., 7.4, 5.4, etc.), and click Return.
Either way, you will now be able to zip and unzip your PHP files!
