1. Remarkable Features
Feature-wise, PureVPN has everything a good VPN must!
It has already highlighted its blue-chip encryption, automatic kill switch, Post forwarding, IP leak protection, impeccable security, and unblocking all kinds of geo-restricted content. It also offers a 31-day money-back guarantee.
Apart from these, PureVPN also offers Multi-Device Usage, Split Tunneling, supports all major protocols and dedicated IP.
Let's jump right in to know how it enhances our experience.
- VPN Kill Switch
The Kill Switch is a robust feature that prevents your VPN from accidentally exposing your real IP. It disables the internet connection the moment VPN connection drops to protect it from malicious activities.
With the Kill Switch feature, all your data remains secured even while you face connectivity issues for nanoseconds and don't expose your real IP address. You can access your data with peace of mind without the fear of data theft.
- Split Tunneling
As the name suggests, it splits your internet traffic- it helps you route internet traffic via the VPN network. With the split tunnel, you have the freedom to choose which information goes through the VPN network.
Moreover, with this feature, you get access to foreign content (shows/movies) while using the local IP and share P2P files without worrying about privacy issues.
- AES Encryption
AES stands for Advanced Encryption Standard- It is a cipher algorithm that looks after the security of your online activities. With Pure VPN's 256-bit AES, your sensitive and private data remains intact.
While you connect with PureVPN, it automatically selects the best encryption for you no matter which device you connected with- it transmits your data securely. It also bestows multiple tunneling protocols and applies it on Open VPN, IKEv2, SSTP, and L2TP.
- Secure WiFi
Given that WiFi networks are delicate, make them the most accessible entry points for cybercriminals to hack your system and acquire your personal data. With the modern security protocols and 256-bit military-grade encryption, PureVPN acts as a firewall that protects you from hackers and surveillance agencies to keep your passwords, mac address, and router network security safe. Besides this, PureVPN can hide your location on the web, making it impossible to track.
- P2P Sharing
P2P refers to Peer to Peer networking, a fast and authentic way to share the files with internet users. With the PureVPN exemplary features, you can share or download as much data you want by keeping your identity confidential. As PureVPN creates encrypted tunnels between the user and VPN server, it protects you from bandwidth throttling. The kill switch features are designed to prevent your connection from data leaking with which you can transfer your crucial data hassle-free.
- DNS leak protection
DNS- Domain Name System's purpose is to translate the domain name to the IP address so that browsers can interact with each other.
When you access any domain, let's say, for instance, Google, then a request is generated that exposes your real identity- it could be unsafe. PureVPN servers are fast, secure, and encrypted, shielding you from spying, hacking, or any notorious activity.
While we run multiple tests to evaluate the functioning of PureVPN, we considered DNS, too, as it is an integral part of a VPN- the test results showed it is leak-proof.
Hence, you're in safe hands with PureVPN, and you can remain completely anonymous online, protecting your data parallelly.
- Dedicated IP
PureVPN lets you have total control of your VPN by giving you a dedicated IP. A dedicated IP is a passport to your networks, databases, and servers.
A few of the benefits of having PureVPN dedicated IP:
1. Online Banking Security
You can access your bank accounts from any corner of the globe despite continuously changing your IP.
2. Secure FTP Access
With dedicated IP, you can reinforce your website security by limiting FTP access to your IP address only.
3. Two Factor Authentication
If you're still skeptical about the security issues- you can set up two-factor authentication on your bank accounts and other sensitive resources.
Additionally, your dedicated IPs can be configured on routers as well.
2. Myriad of Payment Gateways
Yes, you heard it right. PureVPN extends to 150 payment gateways.
Want to pay via your Bitcoins or Cryptocurrencies? Not a big deal — with PureVPN, you can. Not only via your credit cards, debit cards, or PayPal, but you have access to all payment gateways available in your region. It's the most sorted VPN as far as payment options are concerned.
We hope you don't lose your track while deciding on how you should pay. Too many options, can't help.
3. Servers all over the world
More than 2000 servers across 140+ countries is one reason it makes our list of recommended VPNs. Not only physical servers, but with PureVPN, you get virtual servers.
Thinking what are virtual servers?
Have you ever thought of working in a peaceful town in another country? We can help you checklist one of your dream work locations. When you connect with a virtual server location, you are assigned an IP address from your choice. In contrast, your traffic is routed via a server in another country with a stable and more exceptional connection.
4. Rock-solid Security
PureVPN uses OpenVPN/IKEv2 on Windows, OpenVPN on macOS and Android, and IPSec/IKEv2 on iOS, which are highly secure protocols. Many VPN providers claim their products to be highly-secure, but not many stand up to it. Here are features of a secure VPN:
- 256-bit Encryption
With the high-end Encryptions, your data remains safe and protected from malicious deeds.
- DDoS Protection
DDoS attacks can eradicate your systems. A secure DDoS is competent enough to withstand the DDoS attacks. With DDoS VPN, all your traffic passes through anti-DDoS servers.
- NAT Firewalls
It blocks the incoming threat by protecting your connection from extortion.
- P2P Protection
While transferring files, your data might get available to hackers, but P2P VPN servers conduct secure communications from uploading to moving to keep you anonymous.
In short, absolutely nothing to worry about as far as security is concerned.
5. Geo-restricted content hindrance-free
Given that PureVPN has an ample number of servers, virtual IP server access, PureVPN is reliable for accessing Netflix, Hulu, BBC iPlayer, Disney Plus, and Amazon Prime from anywhere in the world. Being anonymous because of the dedicated IP, you can install torrent files too. Moreover, PureVPN works on all the devices iOS & Android Phones, smart TV, Laptops, MacBook, and Amazon Fire Stick — so you can enjoy your time with any device of your choice.
You might want to watch many movies that are maybe accessible to Netflix US, UK, Australia, or Japan. PureVPN gives you the privilege to use it all. E.g., In India, you can consume Japanese anime by just using the country's IP from where you want to watch the shows/movies. To all the Cinephiles, it's a treat.
6. Outstanding Support
PureVPN’s support team is available for you 24*7 via live chats, calls, and email support. And the team is immensely dedicated, respectful, and helpful.
As a part of our tests, we analyzed their customer service team to share the experience with you- when we connected via live chat, they responded to all the queries in less than 10 minutes.
If you are not sure about having a conversation and want to take the job in your hands to answer your queries, they have tutorial videos to guide you at every step.
Without any much back and forth, you get the support on time.
A few things that we feel PureVPN could improve
We are aware of using “easy on pockets” very early on in this article. That was in context value for money per device.
PureVPN costs $6.49/month when you purchase a one-year plan. That is not bad considering you can use all the features on 10 devices concurrently.
However, it’s entirely possible that you don’t even have 10 devices. Meaning, it would be a waste of money, wouldn’t it? In that case — if you are impressed by what PureVPN has to offer — you can share the plan with friends and family. This way, you will divide the cost and get bang for the buck!
2. Strict no-log policy
Though they offer zero-log policy, it is still missing somehow.
In 2017, a story of cyberstalking leaked where a man had been allegedly using PureVPN, and the cops tracked him down with the PureVPN management team's help. The management team responded to the allegations online and had a blog post explaining their actions, telling them that they don't keep the cookies or history of the user. Still, the article had no say on no-log policy yet.
Anyway, unless you are a criminal and the police are actively looking for you, there’s no way anyone else can trace you.
3. Average speed outside US & UK
Of course, we tested PureVPN for its performance. In the US & UK, the speed reduction was minimal— approx. 15% or so.
However, when we tested servers from far away countries, the speed reduction was quite significant — the pings were high, and the download & upload speed reduction went to almost 40%.
It’s not a dealbreaker if you have a good internet connection. But a lag can be observed if your internet is slow and you connect to those away servers of PureVPN, which is natural BTW.
Conclusion - Do we recommend PureVPN?
• Uses military-grade security
• DNS leak protection
• Top-notch customer support
