When a web solutions company — like HostIndia in today’s case — has a dated, bad-looking website, we start to question whether they should even be considered for the services they provide, especially when there are many modern options in the market.
However, following the whole “don’t judge a book by its cover” advice, we decided to give it a try and share our thoughts with you. We tested it for server response time, loading speed, uptime, customer support quality, features, and more.
In our opinion, HostIndia is overpriced, and Hostinger is a way better alternative at a fraction of the cost. How did we come to that conclusion? Read on to find out.

Company Information
HostIndia provides domain registration & web hosting solutions to startups and SMBs in India. It’s a division of Hostin Services Private Limited, a privately held company located in Pune, Maharashtra, India.
HostIndia’s main servers & IT systems are located at Tata Communication’s data center. And, seemingly, your site will be hosted on an AWS server if you decide to use their services...you most probably won’t after reading this review, though.

1 thing good about HostIndia
It’s primarily for Indian businesses
It’s evident from its name that HostIndia’s primary client base is in India. Meaning, they must have optimized their services in a way that benefits Indian territory the most.
They use AWS cloud to host customer sites, and all the sites are in their Mumbai data center location. This means the latency or server response time in India, especially Mumbai, will be minimal.
Server response time (SRT) is the amount of time it takes for the web browser to receive a response from the server. In our test using Bitcatch, the latency or SRT came around 10 ms, which is way under the recommended 200 ms.
Because we already talked about low latency and AWS servers, let’s discuss loading speed as well. The total time it takes to load a web page fully is loading time.
With almost a third of the global cloud market share, AWS is the king of cloud services providers. The fact that HostIndia is using their servers means their clients are getting some of the best hardware & infrastructure there is. And it reflects in their loading speed.
In our loading time test, we found HostIndia’s test to be similar to our top recommended web hosts.
Overall, if loading speed & server performance were the only metrics that mattered, HostIndia would most definitely have been our recommendation.
3 Things We Didn't Like about HostIndia
1. Not the best uptime
Uptime is a metric that represents the percentage of time that hardware, an IT system, or a device is successfully operational, according to Techopedia. It’s a measure of reliability, in short.
How reliable is HostIndia? Given that they use AWS cloud, we expected an almost perfect uptime like Hostinger’s 99.99%. To our disappointment and most probably because of HostIndia’s doings, the test site was unavailable quite frequently, and the total uptime measured around 99.77%.
Still, the uptime doesn’t break the standard 99.9% uptime guarantee. Why? Well, HostIndia gives a 99.5% uptime guarantee, not 99.9%.
2. Substandard customer support
HostIndia offers round-the-clock support via phone, live chat, and emails. In reality, the support ticket responses have taken many days, according to one of their prior customers. Getting through to a live chat agent also takes time — it shows you are the only one in the queue but then asks you to wait for an email or something of that sort.
In short, such’s not the support quality anyone would like. Definitely not us.
3. It’s way overpriced
HostIndia’s web hosting plans start at Rs. 2999/year. Converted to the industry-common monthly scale, that’s approximately Rs. 250/month.
For Rs. 250/month, you can host one website on a 10 GB storage server. Apart from that, they offer no value-added features whatsoever.
Compare this to Hostinger’s Single Web Hosting plan. The Hostinger plan gets you 30 GB SSD storage to host one website. Moreover, you get a free SSL certificate, a 99.9% uptime guarantee, and a free business email account. Its price? Just Rs. 79/month. To put it in perspective: You can buy Hostinger’s Single Web Hosting plan for four years and still have change left compared to HostIndia’s one year.
You might be wondering HostIndia’s performance must be head and shoulders better than Hostinger’s performance. Well, it’s not. It’s slightly better, but no better than what Hostinger offers for Rs. 119/month with its Premium Web Hosting plan. Even Hostinger’s most expensive shared plan, Business Web Hosting, costs Rs. 229/month.
In short, before this HostIndia review spirals into an Hostinger ad, let’s end this by concluding HostIndia is not a value-for-money web hosting.
HostIndia Hosting Plans and Features
HostIndia primarily sells four types of web hosting: Linux shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, and managed AWS cloud hosting. These are its plans:
1. Linux Web Hosting
There’s only one Linux web hosting plan, and it’s the one we talked about throughout this review. It’s priced at Rs. 2,999/year and lets you host one website on a 10 GB server.
2. Virtual Private Servers
With a 99.9% uptime guarantee and dedicated resources, these are the VPS plans HostIndia offers:
Name | Price (per month) | RAM (GB) | CPU | Storage (GB) | Bandwidth (per month) |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
LVPS1 | INR 879.2 | 0.5 | 1 vCPU | 20 | 500 GB |

Conclusion | Do we recommend HostIndia?
A Big NO!
With its dated website, HostIndia left a negative first impression. And it didn’t get much better after that.
Apart from the fact that they use AWS - Mumbai data center and hence the server performance in India is good, HostIndia didn’t do even average. Its customer support is lacking; it gives 99.5% uptime guarantee, compared to industry-standard 99.9%; no extra features are included, not even something essential like a free SSL certificate; And...they charge Rs. 250/month for it!!
Compared to that, even Hostinger’s ₹79/month plan is better. It measured 99.99% uptime & loaded the site fast in our experiment. Plus, Hostinger gives a free SSL certificate and a free email account even at less than one-fourth the price!
starts at ₹79 per month
