Dedicated servers for peak performance; Shared hosting for low prices.
These are the two types of web hosting plans located at the very ends of any hosting company’s offerings. And then there’s VPS hosting that packs in the best of both, at the middle.
Now, most of our reviews and recommendations are around shared hosting because it’s sufficient for most of our readers. However, due to its comparatively slow nature & inability to handle real-time traffic, shared hosting is impractical for websites that attract significant traffic or run resource-intensive tasks. If yours is one of those sites, this listicle is for you.
VPS or virtual private server hosting can be an excellent value for money if you don’t have the budget for a dedicated server yet want better performance than what shared packages have to offer.
We tested some of the well-known VPS hosting providers and found these four to be the best of best.

Brief reviews of the 4 best VPS services in India
VPS is all about independent resources. Therefore, it was our priority to check the quantity of resources (RAM, storage, and bandwidth) you get for the money. We also looked for features, customer support, uptime, and more. The result? These four shone the most:
1. Hostinger

Overall Uptime
99.99%
Average server response time:
~180 ms
Average server response time(in India):
~212 ms
Price
starts at ₹285/mo
What we love:
Hostinger is our favorite cheap hosting, in general. With VPS plans also, it stands out because of the relatively low sticker price of ₹285/mo. And although the price is relative to the server resources included, features such as dedicated IP, fast support, unrestricted access to 100 Mbps connection line, and fast storage are common.
The cheapest VPS plan, VPS 1, costs a mere 285 rupees per month. The dedicated resources included with this plan are 1 core vCPU, 1 GB memory, 20 GB storage, and 1 TB bandwidth. These numbers can go up to 8 core vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 160 GB space, and 8 TB bandwidth with its 2999 rupees per month VPS 6 plan.
2. Bluehost

Overall Uptime
99.98%
Average server speed
210 ms
Average server speed(in India)
220 ms
Price
starts at INR 1159/month
What we love:
Bluehost has three plans, and all three are wide apart as far as server resources go. One’s suitable for a medium-traffic site, one for medium to high-traffic, and the last for high-traffic. As for the features that come with all plans, you get a free domain name for the first year, a free SSL certificate, root access, dedicated IP address(es), reliable customer support, and a 30-day money-back guarantee in case you don’t like their services. The cPanel is also customized with some added tools for VPS management.
Standard, Enhanced, and Ultimate are the three plans we mentioned. The base plan is priced at INR 1159/month and comes with 2 CPU cores, 2 GB RAM, 30 GB SSD space, and 1 TB bandwidth. In comparison, the Ultimate one costs INR 3659 monthly and includes 4 cores, 8 GB RAM, 3 TB data transfer, and 120 GB SSD.
3. A2 Hosting

Overall Uptime
99.93%
Average server speed
~180 ms
Average server speed(in India)
~205 ms
Price
starts at ~ ₹ 368
What we love:
A2 Hosting’s VPS plans are divided into two categories: Managed and Unmanaged. The unmanaged plans are cheaper, but you will not have access to a control panel, and you will have to choose your preferred Linux OS. You get root access, of course. So, if you know how to handle it, Unmanaged VPS can turn to be a great value. However, if you want a UI to interact & change stuff, the Managed VPS plans with free SSL, cPanel, and worry-free management aren’t bad either.
As for the pricing, there are six Unmanaged plans — 3 runaway, 3 Turbo — that start from Rs. 368 per month (1 core, 1 GB RAM, 150 GB SSD storage, and 2TB bandwidth) and goes up to Rs. 5162 per month (8 cores, 32 GB RAM, 450 GB NVMe, and 4TB bandwidth). The Managed plans, on the other hand, costs between Rs. 2580/month (2 cores, 4 GB RAM, 150 GB SSD, and 2 TB bandwidth) and Rs. 8850/month (8 cores, 32 GB RAM, 450 GB NVMe, and 4TB bandwidth).
4. Hostgator

Overall Uptime
99.98%
Average server speed
~210ms
Average server speed(in India)
~212 ms
Price
starts at $19.95/mo
What we love:
HostGator’s SNAPPY range of VPS plans are excellent! You get a decent amount of resources, a cPanel & root access, and a free website migration service for the price. The most notable feature of all is its expandable storage one; you can basically order extra storage of 10 to 500 GB if needed.
As for the VPS packages, you can choose from four options: SNAPPY 2000, SNAPPY 4000, SNAPPY 6000, and SNAPPY 8000. The SNAPPY 2000 is $19.95/mo with 2 CPU cores, 2 GB RAM, 20 GB SSD, and 1 TB bandwidth. On the other end, with 4 Core CPU, 8 GB RAM, 120 GB SSD, and 2 TB bandwidth is the SNAPPY 8000 costing $39.95/mo.
What makes these four the best VPS hosting provider?
We judge any hosting plan/provider based on a few factors. And then compare how they stand at each aspect with a benchmark we create based on all providers’ offerings. These are those factors for VPS hosting reviews:
1. Resources for price
As we mentioned earlier, VPS hosting’s primary purpose is to provide independent server resources like RAM, storage, bandwidth, and CPU. With shared hosting, every resource is common between the numerous sites hosted on the server, causing performance issues, security issues, and more.
When you choose a VPS based on the “resources for price” scale, you certainly get the best value for money.
2. Performance
It’s not necessary that if you have more resources, the site will perform excellently. Yes, it’s a significant part of it, but the location of servers, the quality of hardware, and optimization of software also play a role.
All combined, if you check for loading speed and uptime beforehand, you’ll inevitably get the best of the best.
3. Customer support
VPS is tricky. If something happens to your site because of hosting, it just happens to your site because of independent resources. In the shared scenario, if there’s something wrong with the server and someone else reports the issue, the problem will be solved without you having to talk to customer service.
Therefore, choosing a VPS provider with good customer support is of utmost importance.
4. Managed or Unmanaged
This one’s crucial. If you accidentally buy unmanaged hosting (because you were getting more resources at a lower price) and don’t know how to handle it, it will be a waste of money. Either you will need to hire a professional for server management or claim a refund (it’s good that all providers we mentioned offer a money-back guarantee).
Conclusion - The best VPS hosting services in India
Of the many providers we tested our website on, these four’s VPS plan seemed to be absolutely worth it:
All in all, all of these hosting providers are great for traffic-generating websites. You can choose any and be worry-free, no matter what the traffic (of course, choose the plan according to your monthly and peak real-time traffic).
